| The Tamina Community
Center was established in August, 1998. Our mission is to improve the quality
of life for the residents of our community. We do this by offering educational
programs, activities and services that emphasize self-determination and
personal responsibility. Located in the historic Tamina community of Montgomery County, Texas, the Center provides children, their parents and the entire community with access to valuable educational resources and other services. The Center provides the community with a critical resource to meet the growing need for children to have safe and productive activities during the hours outside of the school day. We believe that providing our children and youth with a safe and fun after-school environment where they can master basic skills as well as enjoy a variety of life-enrichment activities can lead to life-changing improvements in their lives. The Center offers a variety of community outreach services. The goal of our outreach program is directed towards assisting families and individuals in finding ways to improve the quality of their lives. We meet this goal by providing counseling services, needs assessment, direct assistance when appropriate and help in finding ways to strengthen family life. The Center functions as a community focal point. We bring
people together in positive ways so that they can become a force for change
in their community. |
